Cuffs for Keiran :)
Oscar.
Mama, we let your ashes go yesterday. We miss you and love you so much, and hope you are happy we let you go on the hill at the farm.
I’ve never had a green thumb… I’ve always loved flowers and big leafy plants but never had the discipline to water everyday and follow instructions on the tags of plants about light. My mom loved gardening and could name just about any flower/tree and how to care for it. I always said I’d give gardening a real try once I had a house. We bought our house in June and my mom died in September. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about gardening now that she’s gone. We put in 6 huge garden beds in our backyard for vegetables a few weeks ago, and I found that to be pretty hard (you can read about it here) but I’m happy to report that I’ve worked through those emotions and am very happy to have all these plants to care for. I love getting my hands in the soil and watering them every day. It makes me feel close to Mama in a good way.
Enjoy this series of pictures of my potted garden.
Salvia. This was another of my moms favorites. She even named our beloved family dog after this plant. Sally!
Lettuce Poppy. This one will test my ability to revive a plant. It was in some trouble when I bought it and Keiran had since has it in for this poor plant… (note the twisty tie holding it up)
Succulent.
Begonia. This is the plant that started all this. When I discovered that I kept this plant alive a whole year I decided it was time for more plants!
Mimulus.
